Sasan Gir or the Gir national sanctuary
is located in the state of Gujarat. This sanctuary is spread over an area of
1412 square kilometres and was established in the year 1965 to provide a
protective habitat to the dwindling population of Lion.
Sasan Gir is the only place outside
Africa where the Lion can be seen in its natural habitat. Various other species
of animals and plants can be seen in the forest. Besides the Lion, the other
predatory animals in Gir are the panther and the Hyena. This sanctuary is open
to the visitors from mid October to mid June.
This park experiences a tropical monsoon
type of climate. It is extremely hot and humid during the months of May to
August in Gir. This sanctuary is closed to visitors during the summer months. According
to estimates this sanctuary is home to 38 species of mammals, approximately 300
species of birds and 2000 species of insects. The state and central government
has undertaken various efforts to preserve the rare species of Lions. One of
these projects is setting up the Lion breeding program. Under this breeding
program centres for breeding have been set up in various parts of the forest.
The concentrated efforts to increase the population of Lions has reaped rich
rewards as the population has gone up 15 in 1990 to over 400 presently. Sasan
Gir conducts wildlife safaris for the visitors and you can. The cuisine available
in this area is the mouth watering Gujarati cuisine.
This green resort is a refreshing site on a hot summer day. The resort is very beautiful and driving to it was a great experience. It is one of the most beautiful properties I have seen. The staff at the resort is very good and well-trained. They guided us very well. I went to the resort with a group of 4 friends. Gujarat being prohibition state drinks are not allowed. The rooms provided to us were just excellent. Each room had an attached and spacious balcony. The resort staff has taken many meritorious environment initiatives. The resort is in the middle of a forest and is very comfortable. I enjoyed my stay at the resort.
ReplyDeleteThe food provided is the delicious Gujarati cuisine and is very good. I loved the food that was served. The swimming pool is comparatively small. The recreational activities provided are good. The resort provides safari facilities to visit the jungle. I enjoyed my stay at the resort and would recommend the excellent facilities provided by the staff at the resort to everyone. The delicious food served is also worth tasting. Overall my trip to the club Mahindra resort at Sasan Gir was enjoyable and I would recommend it to everyone. It was my money well-spent.
